A Personal Note: This blog is raw and honest – it comes straight from my heart.
Lately, I’ve been asking myself three simple but powerful questions:
Will this bring me peace?
Will this bring me profit?
Will this bring me purpose?
I’m nearing 60 now. I’ve raised three incredible kids, built a career full of highs and lows, and faced some hard truths along the way. I’ve walked away from two marriages, and most recently, I had to let go of a woman I truly loved.
All of this has made me pause and reflect on what’s next — how I want to spend the years I have left. That phrase – “If it doesn’t bring peace, profit, or purpose, then don’t give it your time, energy, or attention” – has become my quiet compass. It’s a way to sift through the noise and focus on what really matters.
I’ve learned, sometimes the hard way, that peace is everything. Without it, even the most promising opportunities or meaningful goals feel hollow. One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to face is asking myself: “Is this bringing me peace, or is it tearing me apart?”
There was a relationship that did just that – it drained me, left me anxious, and made me doubt my own worth. It took courage to step away, to break free from the never-ending cycle of jealousy and drama. It hurt deeply, but that choice saved my sanity and restored my sense of self.
Work stress is a different kind of battle. My job pays well, but it often wears me down, leaving me mentally exhausted and weighed down by constant changes I can’t control. I dream of a quieter path – a role where passion drives me rather than pressure — but I’m not yet in a place to take that leap. The sacrifices it would demand feel too steep right now.
Purpose – that elusive “why” – is something I wrestle with often. Digging into it means looking deep inside and questioning what truly drives me. When my work or daily actions align with that sense of purpose, I feel alive and energized, not drained. It’s a fulfillment that no paycheck or comfort can ever replace.
