Be Like a Tree

Be like a tree
and let the dead leaves drop.
Do not clutch what withers,
do not hold what no longer feeds.

The wind will come,
and it will take what is tired,
what is brittle,
what has lost its place in the sun.

Stand in your roots,
feel the pulse beneath the soil,
and trust the seasons will bring
new shoots, new leaves,
green and eager for the sky.

Release, quietly.
Grow, patiently.
And in the letting go,
find yourself whole again.
